Library introduction

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The Mongui Maduro Library welcomes researchers to consult the several sources of information the library offers. We encourage you to browse our online catalog for topics of your interest. You start your search here: https://maduro.bibliovation.com/

A visit to the library is recommendable for a broader research. Some parts of the collection such as a large amount of documented periodical articles and newspaper clippings, do not appear in the online catalogue but are available for consult in the library.
In order to receive faster service, we recommend you to send your research request in advance by email or with a phonecall, so our staff can start collecting the available information for you, prior to your visit. Do not hesitate to mail or call for advice if you can not find what you need. Email: info@madurolibrary.org Telephone: 5999 7375119.

What do we offer our researchers and visitors:

– 10 study places
– Free use of 2 computers with internet and Ms office 2010
– Free wifi for your own laptop or other device
– Scanning, printing and copying at friendly prices
– Email or saving of scanned documents on your own usb flash drive

All this in a pleasant study environment.

Note: The voltage of all our sockets is 220

As we are only a reference library, researchers are not allowed to borrow books. Photocopying and scanning are permitted, depending on the state of the material. Very valuable documents first need to be evaluated by the staff before giving permission for photocopying or scanning.

Different rules and regulations apply for the consultation of the SNOA archives (See Special collections)

To make everyone’s stay as agreeable as possible, please comply with the following rules:

  • Please announce your presence and the purpose of your visit at the reception.
  • Hand over big bags (also your laptop bag) to the receptionist, who will keep them safe in a locker.
  • Research and study are only permitted in the reference room. The other rooms are not accessible to visitors.
  • The staff will get you your books and other documents from the bookcases. It is not permitted to remove them on your own.
  • Books and all other materials are for reference only.
  • Use of the printer/scanner/photocopier is only allowed with accompaniment of a staff member.
  • Eating and drinking is only allowed on the first floor of the Ena Dankmeijer-Maduro Pavilion.
  • Please respect the tranquil working surroundings: turn off your mobile or put it on low vibration. Have your telephone conversations outside the building.
  • We cannot guarantee complete silence in the reference room, due to incoming phonecalls and visitors. However, we will ensure that there is a quiet environment in which to study.
  • Please leave your work station in a clean and orderly state.
  • The manager of the library is authorized to prohibit access to the library to a visitor who acts improperly.
